Course Overview
In an environment where the government is fostering an improvement on ill diets based disease and society bases a greater importance on a balanced meal this course will provide a good, basic understanding of nutrition.

- Nutrition Terminology and Principles
- The benefits of a balanced diet
- Correlation between diet and health
- Nutritional requirements of different groups
- Catering for different groups
- Effects of food processing on nutritional content
- Food labeling
Course structure and duration
A 1 day course (6 hours) which includes lectures enhanced by video and written materials. Delegates are encouraged to actively participate in discussion sessions and group activities.
Assessment
A paper consisting of 30 multiple choice questions under examination conditions. 20 or more correct answers mark a pass.
Examination and certification is Issued by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health
