CIEH Level 1 Food Safety Awareness in Catering
Overview
To provide an introduction, and raise awareness of key food safety issues, designed for anyone involved with food handling in order to guarantee safe food to all customers.
Course Content:
- Identification of common food hazards
- Risks in personal hygiene when handling food
- Work place food safety procedures
- The role of cleaning in keeping food safe
- How to store and dispose of waste
- Stock rotation
- How to keep your work area clean
Course structure and duration
The half day course includes lectures enhanced by video and written materials. Delegates are encouraged to actively participate in discussion sessions and group activities. There is 3 hours tuition plus 30 mins examination
Assessment
A paper consisting of 15 multiple choice questions under examination conditions. 10 or more correct answers mark a pass.
Examination and certification is Issued by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health
