Barista Workshop

Course Overview
Each person who drinks coffee has very particular requirements, which places a lot of confidence on the barista preparing it. This course provides individuals with the necessary skills, confidence and knowledge to produce great coffees to a professional standard in a professional setting. Our focus will not only be on procedures but the knowledge behind coffee development so that candidates find it easier to understand what makes well prepared coffee such a pleasurable experience.
Course Content
- Understanding the role of a Barista
- Insight into the history of coffee
- Understanding the products served, terms used and types of coffees
- Setting up and cleaning a professional espresso machine
- How to make different types of coffees
- Frothing milk at different consistencies – Micro foam
- Stock control and organizing the work space
- Barista service basics and questionnaire
Course structure and duration
The one-day course includes theory and practical assessment with the tutor. Hours are from 09.00 to 15.00hrs including breaks and 45 minutes for lunch, it also allows for candidates to stay longer to practise. Classes will have a maximum of 16 students at a time.
Assessment
There are no exams for this course. It will however be assessed throughout the day by grading each candidates practical abilities, which will enable to help the candidate see what he or she has achieved so far. An Off to Work certificate will be provided, with course details as we recognise and are committed to the National Skills Pledge.
What is included in the cost?
All course material and refreshments. Cost per person is £70 including VAT. Special prices can be arranged for group bookings.
